March 23rd, 2017

Nine fillies and mares have been confirmed in the final field for Friday night’s 2017 Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley; offering punters excellent value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

I Am A Star has returned to racing in typically excellent form this season and is subsequently the $2.45 favourite in 2017 Sunline Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

I Am A Star debuted to racing in the late stages of autumn last year, but went to another level through a Spring Carnival campaign which was capped with a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m).

Resuming this time for second in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m), the I Am Invincible filly was luckless in transit when seventh in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m), but returned to winning form in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) last time out.

Drawn in the wide barrier 9, I Am A Star will be partnered by Dean Yendall and will carry only 54kgs in the Sunline Stakes.

First Seal has remained steady in 2017 Sunline Stakes betting markets and is the sole occupant of the second line at a $5.50 quote.

Breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level in the 2014 edition of the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m), First Seal’s racing career has been plagued by injury, but the mare is capable of brilliance on her day.

Resuming in spring for fifth in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m), the Fastnet Rock mare returned to winning form in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) and ended her year mid-pack in the Myer Classic.

Sure to have taken plenty of benefit from her first-up run in less-than-ideal conditions in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) a fortnight ago, First Seal will be partnered by regular rider Blake Shinn and will leave from barrier 7.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently available at Sunline Stakes odds of less-than $10, Circular will carry winning form into the race and arguably offers punters the best value for money at her current $8 quote.

Circular returned to the races for a credible fifth in the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) at Randwick on February 4th, before finishing sixth in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1400m) a fortnight later.

Having stormed home to win the Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) a fortnight ago, the daughter of Street Cry is rock-hard fit and should receive a gem of a ride by in-form hoop Craig Williams.
