2011 Sunline Stakes Final Field Announced

March 23rd, 2011

The 2011 Sunline Stakes will run at Moonee Valley Racecourse this Friday March 25, 2011, and the final field for the race is now available.

Scheduled to run as Race 6, the $200,000 Sunline Stakes is one of the most exciting events on the horse racing calendar and will be run over 1,600 metres.

The Group 2 Sunline Stakes is a weight-for-age conditioned race for mares aged four-years-old and upwards.

Robert Smerdon’s Lady Lynette is one of the 15 confirmed starters for the 2011 Sunline Stakes.

The Ladoni mare will be resuming her autumn carnival campaign after having to withdraw from the Group 1 Coolmore Classic last start due to an elevated temperature.

Lady Lynette has won three of her past five starts and finished fifth in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy last start.

The five-year-old mare will be ridden by jockey Michael Guthrie and will jump from barrier one.

Platinum Passion will attempt to go one better in this Friday’s Sunline Stakes after finishing second by a whisker to Pinker Pinker on March 12, 2011, at Flemington in the Schweppervescence Trophy.

The Redoute’s Choice mare has won three of her eight starts and has finished second by just a nose in both her last runs.

Platinum Passion has drawn barrier 13 for the 2011 Sunline Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Mark Zahra.

The 2011 Sunline Stakes final field also includes Peter Moody’s Set For Fame and Mark Webb’s Avienus.
