2010 Sunline Stakes Odds

February 12th, 2010

Starting at 4.45pm on Saturday, at the Moonee Valley Racecourse is the 2010 Sunline Stakes, and the odds are hotting up over the mares fighting for the $200,000.

While the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) is the feature race for the day, the Group 2 event still draws in a good amount of attention from punters.

Dominating the odds for the 2010 Sunline Stakes is Zarita at $1.95. The Pat Hyland-trained mare placed third at the John Dillon Stakes (1400m) and the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) in October last year. Running from the inside barrier may well have increased the odds for the five-year-old who gains a certain advantage from this spot.

Dominating the odds for the 2010 Sunline Stakes is Zarita at $1.95.

Silvercitymiss and Casual Friday are close in the odds at $7 and $7.50 respectively.

Casual Friday comes into the 2010 Sunline Stakes with three wins from her last three starts, the most notable of which is the Norman Carlyon Handicap (1500m), proving herself a strong contender over the relevant distance.

Sivercitymiss, starting from the fourth barrier, won the Allan Scott Park Handicap (2025m) last October. However, the Tony Noonan-trained mare has also proved herself over the middle distance, winning the Spring Gully Handicap (1600m) prior to that.

Noonan’s other starter, Chelle’s Alibi, closes the odds at $41. However the five-year-old could prove an underdog, finishing second to Casual Friday in the Norman Carlyon Handicap (1500m) in February, and would pay a nice sum to the willing wagerer.

The 2010 Sunline Stakes is the eighth race of the day, following the William Reid Stakes and the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (1200m).
