Final Field For The 2010 Sunline Stakes

February 11th, 2010

Ten mares will start at the Moonee Valley Racecourse in the 2010 Sunline Stakes and have a hard job ahead of them to win the Group 2 race.

Boasting some of the country’s top four-year-old and over mares, the final field certainly will not disappoint.

Drawing the highly desired inside barrier is the Pat Hyland-trained Zarita. The five-year-old placed third at the Group 2 St George Stakes (1800m) last February, and the Group 2 Memsie Stakes (1400m) last August, proving herself a strong contender over the middle distances.

Delta Gee will start from the wide barrier which does not help her campaign.  The four-year-old mare beat just one other starter in her Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) run at Ascot last year.

Storming into the 2010 Sunline Stakes on fantastic form is Casual Friday.

Storming into the 2010 Sunline Stakes on fantastic form is Casual Friday. The four-year-old mare has won her last three starts ranging from 1300m – 1400m, the most recent of which was the Norman Carlyon Handicap (1500m), proving herself as a strong contender for Saturday’s race.

Rolling Stock is also coming into the 2010 Sunline Stakes on strong form having won two of her last three starts over the middle distance. The Clinton McDonald-trained mare beat a field of 14 to triumph at Caulfield in the Ken Sturt Handicap (1400m).

Also racing on Saturday at the Moonee Valley Racecourse alongside the 2010 Sunline Stakes will be the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m), the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (1600m) and the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1500m).
